Conran Medical Practice is leading the way as a Safe Surgery

Conran Medical Practice is proud to be one of the first 500 Doctors of the World Safe Surgeries in the UK, providing accessible healthcare for the most vulnerable members of our community.

Safe Surgeries launched in 2018 and aims to remove barriers to GP registration by providing clinical and non-clinical staff with free training, advice, and resources on how to make their practice inclusive and welcoming for everyone.

It has been endorsed by the Royal College of General Practitioners and the Royal College of Nursing. The initiative gained greater prominence in 2020 as COVID-19 put health and access to healthcare at the forefront of people’s minds, while creating new barriers to GP registration as health services moved online and those without the means or ability to access them were cut off from care.

"Here at Conran, we pride ourselves on being an inclusive and forward-facing Medical Practice. Ensuring our staff, both Clinical and Non-Clinical, have regular up-to-date training and access to all available resources - to help us make our practice as welcoming, incluse and accessable as possible for our patients" - Dr K Syed, Senior Partner.

Anna Miller, Head of Policy and Advocacy at Doctors of the World, said: “Doctors of the World is delighted that GP Conran Medical Centre in Harpurhey has signed up to our Safe Surgeries initiative. This means that the local community can be confident that whatever their background, whatever their personal circumstance, they will receive the care that they are entitled to.

“I would encourage all GP surgeries in the North West to sign up to the Safe Surgeries initiative. It is a proven way of tackling health inequalities and making everyone in the community safer and healthier by ensuring that everyone who needs it has the support they need.”
